Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi: Bradesco And The Future

It was announced last February 5 that Trabuco will be replaced by Octavio as the President of Bradesco. Trabuco, on the other hand, will be the CEO of Banco Bradesco making him the fourth president of the band since the death of its founder, Amador Aguilar in 1991.

Bradesco is one of the biggest banking and financing company in Brazil. With over $74 Billion revenue every year, it takes care of more than 100,000 employees in different sectors and subsidiary companies.

Trabuco on the other hand, started his career in Banco Bradesco when he worked as a clerk at the age of 17. He graduated from Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters of São Paulo de Marília (now UNESP) and had his post-degree in Socio-Psychology from Fundação School of Sociology and Politics of São Paulo.

With these credentials, it’s not surprising how he was able to become one of the managing directors of the company after 15 years of working. During that time, Banco Bradesco is recognized as modern and has a close relationship with media.

Trabuco was assign of the Bank’s Marketing for eight years until during 1992; he was assigned as the President and CEO of Bradesco Vida e Providência, a privately-owned company focused on a private pension.

In 1998, he was again elected as the managing director of Banco Bradesco and a year later, he was assigned to the post of Executive Vice President. And in 2003, he was assigned as the President of Bradesco Seguros, which include eight other companies and during his leadership, he participated in the launching of Bradesco’s shares (ADRs) in the New York Stock Exchange. Because of this, Bradesco Seguros doubled its size and value in the market to 25%. Also during that time, the performance of the company increased from 25% to 35%, is the largest in Latin America.

For over 40 years, Trabuco held a lot of positions, and in 2009, he was appointed as the President of the bank thus making him the fourth President. And in 2015, he led the purchase of HSBC in Brazil.

Aside from different positions held in forty years of service from the company, Trabuco also received different awards and recognitions throughout his career. He was included in 2006 Business Sector Leader – Insurance and Pension Plan – Gazeta Mercantil Business Leaders Forum. During this year, he also received his first award as Personality on Insurance of the Year for two years. Aside from that, he also received the Don Quixote Trophy in 2009, one of the most prominent awards in Latin America. He is also awarded as Entrepreneur of the year in 2015 and 2016; he is also recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the best CEO.

Right now, Trabuco still holds different positions in Bradesco which includes, the CEO of Bradesco Organizations, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, President of the Council of Representatives of CNF, Chairman of the Board of directors of Elo Participacoes Sao Paulo, and so much more.
